Blackwood Power provides an array of comprehensive solar energy solutions, including design and implementation of energy saving projects, energy supply and financing.
We offer a bouquet of financing products designed specifically for the residential market, massively reducing the financial obstacles that currently prevent consumers from benefiting from solar energy.
We provide consumers a choice of solar power solutions to meet their individual requirements, understanding that one size does not fit all.
There are a number of variables that impact directly on determining the final sizing of your solar solution, of which there are three main considerations:
The physical location of the house (or school) will indicate the seasonal variations at play, the peak sun hours expected, the house orientation in relation to the sun and shading issues at various times of the day. All of these factors impact the efficacy of the sun on the solar panels.
This refers to the load used by the end-user(s) at various times of the day and will directly impact on the number of solar panels required, particularly during the daylight hours.
Municipalities charge out at varying rates across the country. Over and above this, some bill out on a pure consumption basis whilst others include daily tariffs coupled to monthly power consumption. This can be somewhat confusing to the end-user, trying to ascertain what portion of the bill is for administrative costs and what is pure power usage. These billing issues are a lot clearer for homeowners or school governing bodies operating on pre-paid metering as they pay only for what they use and there can be no hidden administrative or other sundry costs.
The performance and the reliability of Blackwood Powers offering is completely independent of any existing service and puts the power of energy generation directly into the hands of the consumer.
There is no exaggeration to say that this is the key driver of Blackwood Powers business model. Capital cost for power generation of any kind are currently high and solar is no different. We had to find a means of solving the barrier to entry of high set up costs for the consumer. Solar solution had to be affordable to the widest possible consumer base and we have achieved this through innovative financing options that amortise the set up cost over a 15 to 20 year period and provide a service, maintenance and warranty contract over the duration of the contract.
Either a 15-or-20-year contract period. With a slightly higher capital outlay, your monthly energy fee is fixed on an annualised basis with increases linked to the prevailing inflation rate and implemented on the installation anniversary date of your solar system. Although initially your combined Blackwood Power and Eskom utility bill will be slightly higher than your current electricity bill, you will start enjoying savings after a few years. After the full term of the contract you’ll have made significant savings on your electricity bill.
